The F1978 Digital Step Attenuator (DSA) featuring Glitch-Free™ technology improves system reliability and settling time. It has an attenuation range of 31.5dB with excellent accuracy and very low distortion and insertion loss. The product supports direct serial mode programming as well as conventional serial programming and parallel programming modes of direct and latched.
The F1978 DSA has identical RF performance as the F1975 DSA. The difference between F1978 and F1975 is that F1978 has an additional programming mode called Direct Serial Programming. Consult the "Programming" section of the F1978 datasheet or application note AN-945 "Comparison of F1975 and F1978 Digital Step Attenuator Serial Programming Methods".
The F1978EVBI is a fully populated evaluation board which allows the customer to easily evaluate the device. Attenuation may be set using either the parallel control input or its serial control input (through external connection and control). A dip switch on the evaluation board allows one to set the attenuation state without off-board connections to the control inputs.
The F1978EVSI is a complete hardware and software solution that allows customers to digitally control the device with the USB output on a computer. The kit includes the F1978EVBI board, as well as a USB digital control board and interface cables. The software, guides, and instructional videos are available for download/viewing on the product web page.
